This is not very drought-friendly, but it's great fun on a sunny day if you're in an area where you can use a hose. The children get into their swimsuits, and jump over the jet with a grown-up swirling it round. Or they can play water fireworks - shooting the jets as high as they can – or just run in and out of the sprinklers. But the bit they really enjoy, if you'll let them, is soaking you (and if you're fully clothed that counts as nirvana).
Hosed water is really cold on even the hottest day, so have big fluffy towels at the ready. |
