Just a story about homemade Christmas cards!! I'm really proud that I've turned the vague wish of homemade cards into a reality this year. Inspired by your comments on the childrens card making activities I sat down with my son (age 3) and we've currently made 24 cards. We've made little animal pictures in which he's drawn the head, legs, tail and ears and I've contributed the body. I've then made a glittery pipecleaner spiral to stick on their tummys with an evident bit of sellotape (not being proud) and stuck some googly moveable eyes on them. My son has really enjoyed it and we've discussed the character of each one, added stars in the sky if they dare go out at night, snow flakes if they're young baby ones or too scared to go out in the dark. The only problem is, he now refuses to send them to anyone!! They've become his menagerie and no way is anyone going to get one of these. I've tried many tacks to peruade him they need to go on travels, he'll get lots in return but he's not having any of it!! So, there's a cautionary tale!! |

Sounds a lovely idea, and the pictures are very inspiring and gorgeous. Our Polish neighbour often invites us to her St Nicholas celebrations but they take place nearer Christmas Day. The children get a message from a stern St Nicholas, holding his mitre, and a present (though we bought those along with us). Lovely occasion with lots of singing, and wonderful for the children to see how different cultures do it! |

It sounds very exciting. I love the idea of the shoes
being put out. I'm going to ask my mum iif we can try that this year. |
