That is a delicious bit of history. As a child when i asked about mince pies I never got a good answer as to why there was no mince meat in them. It must be due to mass market manufacturing - the meat and the fruit would not be allowed in the same building because of health reason - that people no longer eat proper mince pies. Though this year we will. |
