Last year, My sister got a china father christmas bauble for her birthday from our nana. It was meant to be an ornament, but Skye stuck a piece of ribbon
on the top in a loop and took it to Ireland with her to hang on the tree! |

Great to see all the home decorations being made - it made me remember the fun I had in my teaching days making Christmas decorations and cards with the children. Even our old classroom began to look glamorous! We still enjoy
hanging up our favourite Santa Claus on the glass door, and red baubles from the ceiling to make a grotto,all well-loved rituals. |

When I was a girl, my grandmother used to buy a new bag of pegs for the washing line, but give them to us so we could paint them and stick things on them to make tree decorations. There wasn't any gold or silver paint that I recall, but reds and blues were a lovely contrast to the green - even if it was a plastic tree! |

That is such a gorgeous idea - making things and keeping them, to bring out at this time of year when everyone has memories of one sort or another. Even old, shop-bought ones have memories attached to them and that they survive for so long is part of their magic. |
